 "Where?"
At first I couldn't place where Antonious Pizza is located.
Its tucked in the Stater Brother's shopping center at Alabama
and Barton Roads. But for a small place and being very simple,
it offers quite a deal.
They open at 11:00 a.m. and along with their pizza and
sandwich menus, they offer lunch specials. Their daily Specials
include: a slice of pizza for $.99, and when you add a 32
oz. soft drink its only $1.69. This is progressive so when
you add an additional slice of pizza with this it becomes
$2.59. These Specials lasts until 3:00 p.m. The sandwich
menu is straightforward with either 8" small or 12"
large options. The sandwiches have the standard variety
of meat selections along with the standard accouterments.
Antonious Pizza has pizza deals. They feature 16"
large cheese pizzas starting at $5.49 with each additional
topping being $1.59. Antonious offers a 12" medium
cheese pizza for $3.99 with each additional topping only
costing $.99. Other than the pricing, we particularly liked
the "Extra Garlic Free" option. They also have
the traditional meat and vegetable topping selection. Their
pizza is the middle ground of pizzas, a style that most
pizza aficionados would enjoy. (It seems we all have become
pizza "experts" - thanks to home delivery, convenience
and advertising.) Their crust is thicker than the national
brands' thin crust but it is isn't "thick" crust
either which was cooked well. The sauce had body and flavor,
perhaps due to the requested extra garlic. And the toppings
were plentiful. In addition to the create your own pizza,
they offer the Fiesta Pizza with Canadian Bacon, Pepperoni,
Mushrooms, Green Pepper, Onions, Olives, Sausage and extra
Cheese for $12.99 (large) and $8.99 (medium). Their other
special pizza is the 5 Topping Vegetarian Pizza (including
extra Cheese) for $9.99 (large) and $6.99 (medium).
Antonious Pizza has very limited seating, and I would consider
it more of a take out or delivery restaurant. But don't
let this and their tucked away location hinder you from
trying a change from your normal pizza restaurant.
