In a World of Its Own

The transition from the retail parking lot to the softly lit dining area is striking at Isabella’s Ristorante Italiano. It’s stepping from outside Redlands directly into an Old Country Italian restaurant. The soft lights, the statutes, and cloth tablecloths and napkins are reminiscence of an Italian style not commonly found State side.

Once inside you have the choice of large tables for family, meeting friends or business associates to intimate dining in booths along the exterior walls. In spite of its openness, there is a sense of privacy and quite – a calming effect is present. The service is prompt and very courteous. The meals are prepared and served as described on their menus. (Which is great for those of us who can’t pronounce the Italian names as listed in the menu.) The pastas are prepared al dente. The vegetables are cooked to perfection with just a bit of a snap to them. But the best part of their fare is their sauces. For they are flavorful, pleasing to the eye and have the right consistency for the meal which they are prepared. Being a cheese lover, they don’t skimp on the portions of cheese in the meals.

The majority of their lunches are priced under $10.00 such as their Hand Folded Raviolis, Pasta Mersinda (spicy slices of chicken breasts tossed with red onions, broccoli florets, roasted sweet peppers and garlic) and Gnocchi de Patate (homemade potato dumplings). The majority of the dinner meals are priced under $13.95 such as Fettuccine Viviana (fresh spinach, herb grilled chicken, sun dried tomatoes and a splash of pinot grigio wine over fettuccine), Pollo al’Erba (boneless, skinless chicken breast roasted with fresh rosemary and a hint of garlic) and Linguine alla Vongole (clams cooked in your choice of marinara sauce or olive oil and garlic served over linguine). Isabella’s also serves the full compliment of traditional chicken, veal and pasta meals.

They are just north of the Historic downtown Redlands, which makes them easy to get to. And recently, they expanded their banquet facilities to accommodate medium sized groups. So if you wish to step out of Redlands and into the Old Country of Italy, try Isabella’s Ristorante Italiano.
