Chicken
Specialist
This niche restaurant, Juan Pollo, prides itself on doing
one thing - rotisserie-style chicken. They opened their
first restaurant in Ontario in 1984 and have expanded within
the region. To this day, most of the Juan Pollos are owned
in partnership by the original owner and employees who wanted
to start their own restaurant.
Each time I go into Juan Pollo, I can smell this isn't
American-fast food style chicken. The aroma of the tangy
marinade coming from the rotisserie reminds me of the rotisserie
chicken I've had in Mexico. In case you didn't guess by
the name, they really do offer only a couple types of meat
- chicken and more chicken. Additionally, they have a variety
of deals for buying quantities of whole chickens. While
its possible to eat here, it's only fast-food counter service
and limited seating. You should be aware that it is very
casual and kid friendly.
Juan Pollo offers a Lunch Special for $4.75 that includes
2 pieces of chicken, potato salad, rice (white rice with
green onions), tortillas and a medium drink. The Dinner
Special is comprised of ½ chicken, beans, rice, potato
salad, tortillas and a medium drink. They also offer Chicken
Tacos, 2 for $1.45, Chicken Burrito including potato salad
for $3.49, Chicken Salad for $3.29, Soft Taco Platter that
includes 3 soft tacos for $2.79, Pollo Bowl for $2.79.
Juan Pollo differentiates itself by offering whole rotisserie
chickens, and lots of them. If you want a whole chicken
including 10 tortillas its $9.49, a whole chicken with beans,
rice, potato salad and tortillas is $10.99, 2 whole chickens
with larger portions of beans, rice, potato salad and tortillas
is $21.99, 3 whole chickens with even larger portions of
beans, rice, potato salad and tortillas is $32.99. If that
isn't enough they also offer 6, 10 and 20 whole chicken
Party Paks that includes progressively larger side dishes
and dinnerware. For extra savings, keep an eye out for their
newspaper ads.
Juan Pollo offers a unique rotisserie-style chicken compared
to Redlands' selection of many other chicken restaurant
offerings. And if you have that large informal gathering,
they have "Something for Everyone" when it comes
to whole chickens.
